Garbage Collection Information

TrashPorters is our garbage collection service. They provides back door collection for garbage and curbside collection for other items as described below.
Collection Days/Times:
Tuesday and Friday. Garbage should be ready for either back door or curb collection by 6:30 AM.
Back Door Collection:
Briarmeadow has back door pick for house hold garbage, this is defined as waste generated inside the house, exclusive of any construction or remodeling debris or any other waste defined below. Items must be either in containers or bags not to exceed 50 gallons or 50 pounds.
Yard and Tree Waste:
Must be located at the curb area of each residence. Trees, shrubs, and brush trimmings must be bundled in lengths no greater than four (4) feet with no branch diameter exceeding three (3) inches. The bundling is required to allow quick pickup and size limitations are required to avoid damaging the equipment in the crushing process. All residential waste materials must be either in containers not exceeding 50 gallons, bags or bundles not exceeding 50 pounds. All permanent trash containers, after being emptied by TrashPorters, will be returned to their point of origin in the same condition in which they were taken, normal wear and tear excepted.
Important Note:
For the safety and protection of TrashPorters employees and equipment, they requiresthat branches and tree trimmings be no greater than three inches in diameter and be bundled in four foot lengths weighing no more than fifty pounds.
Container Packaging:
Please package your household garbage, grass clippings and leaves in a type of container designed for use as a residential trash container such as standard lightweight metal cans, plastic cans or sturdy plastic trash bags (not "kitchen" bags). Containers and bags should weigh no more than forty pounds.
Bulk or Heavy Trash Collection:
Must be located at the curb area of each residence. Items such as appliances, furniture, cardboard boxes (flattened), will be picked up on Friday's only. By Federal Law, refrigerators and freezers or any other items containing Freon must be drained of Freon and have an accompanying bill to validate such service was performed.
Unacceptable Items:
For reasons of government restrictions, personnel and community safety, and protection of equipment, the following items cannot be collected: gasoline, motor oil and used oil filters, paint and other similar liquids, vehicle tires and batteries, and large pieces of metal such as car fenders or engines. Debris from construction and remodeling such as carpet, rocks, bricks, concrete, dirt, sand, gravel, roofing, lumber, fence boards, and large pieces of glass also cannot be collected. Potentially dangerous materials such as sharp objects, glass, metal, and the like should be properly identified and separated from other trash and/or double wrapped to avoid potential injury to the loader. Trash Porters will leave a tag explaining the reason for non-collected item(s).
Special Collection:
Other than normal amounts of residential refuse, yard trimmings or bulk items, if notified in advance, TrashPorters will meet with a resident prior to collection day to determine a price. If a resident does not notify TrashPorters of such a special pick-up before its scheduled day, then TrashPorters will leave a notice for the resident to contact Contractor during normal office hours before the next scheduled pick up day.
Missed Pickup:
If a resident fails to place garbage out in time for pick-up, garbage will be picked up on the next scheduled service day. For missed pick-up due to Trash Porters crew mistake, pick-up will be made the same day if TrashPorters is notified during normal office hours and within twenty four (24) hours when notification is made outside of normal office hours.
Holidays:
When regular pick-up falls on a holiday, (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th - Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day), the pickup will be made on the next regular scheduled pick-up day.
