Census 2010 Block Walking March 13

Last Updated on February 27, 2010

Census 2010 is coming soon.  Houston City Council District G is very fortunate to only have one undercounted area, and it is just to the west of Briarmeadow.  By my calculations, this one undercounted area will cost the city over $2.5 million over the next ten years.

The undercounted area is Harris County Precinct 433, an area generally between Richmond Avenue to the North, Ocee to the west, Westpark to the south, and Dunvale to the east.  I have narrowed the areas of undercount down to two large apartment complexes and one group of townhomes.

On Saturday morning, March 13, Council Member Pennington and I will be leading a block walk in this area to distribute flyers and hang door hangers to let people know the Census is coming soon and they need to respond.  We need all the volunteers we can find to join us.  If we can get 20 volunteers, we will probably be done in 3-4 hours on Saturday.

Please let me know if you are interested in block walking with us on the 13th.

HPD Midwest District 18 Civic PIP March 24

Last Updated on February 18, 2010

The new Midwest Police Station is opening soon.  They are going to begin a Civic PIP (Positive Interaction Program).  HPD Officer Robert Curl from the Richmond Storefront is going to launch the civic PIP on March 24 at 7:00 p.m. at the new station located at 7277 Regency Square Blvd. (just off Harwin between Hillcroft and Fondren).  This is your chance to get to know the command staff in the Midwest Division and see the new police station.  It is very important to Officer Curl to have a good turnout this first Civic PIP to show Captain Williams (who will be the special guest) that WE DO CARE ABOUT PIP and will support it in District 18.
